ND (Neutral Density) filters are the single most important tool separating cinematic drone footage from footage that just looks like it was shot on a drone. Without an ND filter, drone cameras compensate for bright outdoor light by using a fast shutter speed — which produces footage that is technically sharp but feels brittle, jittery, and uncinematic.
By fitting the correct ND filter for the light conditions, we control shutter speed to follow the 180-degree rule — keeping motion blur natural and smooth, the way the human eye and professional cinema cameras render movement.
